Powering a Smarter and Greener Tomorrow

We are entering an exciting era of smart use of energy. Everyone of us can play a part – big or small – in combating climate change. Sign up for our renewable energy schemes today and build a sustainable future together.

What is Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff?

To watch the full version about Renewable Schemes, please click here.

You can take part in the scheme by installing a solar and/or wind power renewable energy system on your premises. Once the system is successfully connected to the CLP grid, you can earn FiT payments.

CLP will buy the electricity generated by your renewable energy system at a FiT rate and the amount will be reflected in your regular electricity bills.

FiT Rates

Three types of FiT rates will be offered according to the generation capacity of your renewable energy system:

Capacity of the Renewable Energy System

FiT Rate^

(per unit of electricity – kWh)

≤ 10kW

> 10kW to ≤ 200kW

> 200kW to ≤ 1MW

^ The rates listed above are effective from 1 October 2018 onwards and will be reviewed regularly.

You can take part in this scheme if:

  • You are a registered CLP account holder (not applicable to government bodies)
  • Your renewable energy system is powered by solar and/or wind and is located on your premises with a total generation capacity of up to 1MW
  • Your renewable energy system can be connected to the CLP network without any increase in capacity or network reinforcement work by CLP

Application Process: We Make the Process Simple

Step 1

Complete the Electronic Application Form and Upload Required Documents

Step 2

Technical Assessment, System Test and Installation before CLP Smart Meter Installation

Step 3

Completion and Grid Connection

Please be reminded that the design, installation, operation and maintenance of your renewable energy system should comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and safety and technical requirements. This includes compliance with the requirements set out under the Technical Guidelines on Grid Connection of Renewable Energy Power Systems and the Guidance Notes for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Installation, both issued by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (“EMSD”).

Application Methods

To apply, simply complete the electronic application form on the CLP website or CLP App and upload required documents.

Please prepare required documents and information before your submission.

  1. HKID Card, Passport or Business Registration Certificate
  2. Renewable energy (RE) system’s preliminary layout plan clearly marked on an aerial photograph of the proposed location(s) for installation of the RE systems and FiT meter (sample)
  3. RE system’s preliminary Information and single-line electrical diagram (sample)

The application receipt date will be counted on the date we received your application form and all the above required documents.

Please note that the application process will terminate automatically if it is not completed within the applicable validity period as defined in Section 5.5 of the Feed-in Tariff Scheme Terms and Conditions.
