You can take part in the scheme by installing a solar and/or wind power renewable energy system on your premises. Once the system is successfully connected to the CLP grid, you can earn FiT payments.
For more information about the solar energy generation, please visit
Solar Energy Information page.
CLP will buy the electricity generated by your renewable energy system at a FiT rate and the amount will be reflected in your regular electricity bills.
Three types of FiT rates will be offered according to the generation capacity of your renewable energy system:
Capacity of the Renewable Energy System
(per unit of electricity -kWh)^
≤ 10 kW
> 10 kW - ≤ 200 kW
> 200 kW - ≤ 1MW
^The rates listed above are effective from 1 Oct 2018 onwards and will be reviewed regularly.
A solar system comprises three major components:
A solar system with a generation capacity of about 1kW in Hong Kong can generate around 1,000 units of electricity a year.

You can take part in this scheme if:
Submit Application and Required Documents
Technical Assessment, System Test and Installation before CLP Smart Meter Installation
Completion and Grid Connection
Remarks:Please be reminded that the design, installation, operation and maintenance of your renewable energy system should comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and safety and technical requirements. This includes compliance with the requirements set out under the Technical Guidelines on Grid Connection of Renewable Energy Power Systems and the Guidance Notes for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Installation, both issued by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (“EMSD”).
To apply, simply complete the electronic application form on the CLP website or CLP App and upload required documents.
Please prepare required documents and information before your submission.
The application receipt date will be counted on the date we received your application form and all the above required documents.
Please note that the application process will terminate automatically if it is not completed within the applicable validity period as defined in Section 5.5 of the Feed-in Tariff Scheme Terms and Conditions.
Important Notes and Terms and Conditions
You or your assigned contractor/engineering contact should read through all of the below guidelines to ensure your systems meets all the requirements in order to facilitate a smooth and successful application.
