1. Who is eligible for the special fuel rebate?

All CLP customers will receive a Special Fuel Rebate of 2.3 cents per unit of electricity based on their electricity consumption between January and December 2016.

2. How much will my rebate be?

You can calculate the amount according to the formula below:

Total electricity consumption (between 1 January and 31 December 2016) multiplied by HK$0.023 (rebate per unit of electricity).

For example, for a customer with a total electricity consumption of 4,800 units from January to December 2016 (i.e. around 400 units per month on average) will receive a rebate of HK$110 (i.e. 4,800 x HK$0.023 = HK$110.4).

3. How will I get my rebate?

From January 2017, the rebate will be automatically credited to existing customers’ accounts and used to offset electricity charges until the rebate amount is fully used.

4. If I had a registered account with CLP in the first six months of 2016 which is now terminated, am I eligible for the rebate?

Yes. If you had a registered CLP account with electricity consumption between 1 January and 30 June 2016, but that account has been terminated on or before 31 December 2016, you can register through the CLP website on www.clp.com.hk from now until 31 December 2017 for the rebate. After verification, we will return the rebate to you through payments by cheque or by transfer to your same-name CLP account.

5. If I had a registered account with CLP in the first two months of 2016 only which is now terminated, am I eligible for the rebate?

Yes. As long as you had a registered CLP account with electricity consumption between 1 January and 31 December 2016, you may register through the CLP website on www.clp.com.hk from now until 31 December 2017 for the rebate.

6. If I wish to register for the rebate but have no access to the internet, what can I do?

You can register by calling our hotline on 2678 2633 or by visiting any of our CLP Customer Service Centres.

7. If I moved out of my previous address on 31 December 2015, am I eligible for the rebate?

No. Only customers who used electricity between 1 January and 31 December 2016 are eligible for the rebate.

8. If I had consumed electricity between 1 January and 31 August 2016 but will terminate my account after 1 January 2017, do I need to register for the rebate?

No. You do not need to take any action. The rebate will be automatically credited to your final bill.
