Look Forward in a Confident Leap

Year-end is the great opportunity for reviewing the past and preparing for the future. CLP has been providing viable energy-efficient solutions for different sectors, and today, I am delighted to share the fruitful results from our collaboration with all of you.

CLP’s GREENPLUS RecognitionAward just entered its third year with the theme 'Celebrating the Industy’s Energy-Conservation Stars', and attracted the participation of more than 500 organisations across 15 sectors. The judging panel, formed by government departments, commerce chambers, trade associations, green groups, universities and professional bodies, selected 63 organisations out of 4,000 applicants for their outstanding energy saving contribution. We look forward to seeing more organisations to share their brilliant cases of energy conservation in next year.

Energy conservation is our key and first priority over the years, we have consistently inspired the community to make Hong Kong greener. In the 2nd Green Building Symposium, which took place in October 2014, 300 corporate delegates participated with much enthusiasm. Due to overwhelming responses in last year, a panel discussion was added and we are honored to invite Mr Shum Chi-ming, Director of Hong Kong Observatory as one of our speakers in this year. Mr Shum shared his collaboration with CLP in driving behavioural change by technology, particularly how to relate scientific weather information to new function of CLP 'Meter Online Service', '7-Day Energy Forecast' that helps customers manage their energy consumption in a more systematic way.

CLP is also playing an active role to work with various industry partners to promote eco-awareness and energy conservation for a greener environment. We worked with the Hospital Authority for the campaign of 'Energy Saving Promotion 2014' to share energy efficiency knowledge with its 6,000 employees of the Head Office as well as its seven main public hospital networks. We also teamed up with Airport Authority to organise 'Saving Energy, Going Green' at the Arrival Hall of the Hong Kong International Airport, which attracted more than 8,000 international and local participants. We successfully conveyed the message of energy conservation in the form of fun interactive games.

To help businesses optimise their energy management, CLP has relaunched a brand new GREENPLUS Energy Billboard with a simplified log-in process. The new assessment report covers more industries, while the quarter-specific layouts and energy saving tips are providing more customised energy saving recommendations to cater seasonal requirement. The system was well received by 4,100 business users since its launch in 2012.

Hong Kong's first GREENPLUS Experience Centre specifically for small and medium enterprises has been relaunched. The centre showcases offices, retail shops and restaurant, which allows the visitors experience the interactive games such as Horse Riding Power Generator and enjoy refreshment prepared with automated electric cooking equipment. So far, more than 4,000 guests have visited the center and learn about the latest energy-saving technologies.

Looking ahead, we will continue our efforts to provide the tools and knowledge as well as the latest technology to help business partners to adopt green operations and also cultivates a collaborative green culture in Hong Kong.
