According to government source, Hong Kong households and corporate throw away more than 70 thousand tonnes of computers, and electrical/ electronic equipment every year. Some of these items are still in good working condition and could be put for second-hand use. All of them contain components and materials, such as metals and plastics that could be recovered for reuse and recycling.
By reusing and recycling our resources wisely, we could reduce the quantity of waste from electrical and electronic equipment – with the result of a better living environment. Besides, it helps people in need.
Partnered with St James Settlement, CLP has launched the old appliance recycling programme. The pilot scheme is for refrigerators, washing machines, and microwave ovens. The old appliances will first be inspected, repaired and/or dismantled.
It is easy to participate! When you buy a designated energy efficient appliance at our CLP Customer Service Centre, you can also let us know if you want to donate your old appliances. Let’s take part - care for the environment and the needy.
