How Energy Saving and Energy Saving Rewards are Calculated?

For every unit of electricity saved during the specified hours on the event day, you will earn 200 Eco Points.

  • Electricity saved (kWh) = *Baseline energy usage – energy usage during specified hours on the event day
  • Energy-Saving Reward# = Electricity saved (kWh) x 200 Eco Points
  • *Baseline usage is calculated by making reference to the 10 working days (Monday to Saturday, except public holidays and past event days) preceding the event day and taking the 3 days with the highest energy usage of same specified period (e.g. 18:00-22:00 of the event day) to set the average energy consumption.

    #Energy-Saving Reward will be calculated on event basis.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. What are the Energy-Saving Missions?

    The Energy-Saving Missions are based on voluntary participation. The objective is to encourage customers to adopt energy conservation habits to reduce consumption during peak demand period and save electricity. Upgraded customers will be invited to register for the Energy-Saving Missions to earn Eco Points from the Eco Reward in recognition of their energy saving efforts during specified hours on the Energy-Saving Missions event days (the events), when they are notified by CLP. For every unit of electricity saved during the specified hours on each event day, the participants will earn 200 Eco Points. The more they lower their consumption, the greater the reward will be.

    Furthermore, participants registered in the Energy-Saving Missions can also enter smart product free trial, the AI enhanced air conditioning device to allow CLP control one of their air conditioners on the event day(s) through the smart product. Eligible participants using the free trial of smart product can enjoy 600 extra Eco Points and get the ownership of the smart product for personal use upon completion of at least HALF of the total number of events and users feedback survey. The quota is limited to 250 only, first-come-first served.

    2. Am I eligible to join the Energy-Saving Missions?

    Invitations to the Scheme will be sent to account holders at selected addresses that have smart meters installed. Customers can also call the hotline on 26780555.

    3. How can I join the Energy-Saving Missions?

    Customers can register in following ways:

    i) Complete the online form

    ii) Call the CLP hotline on 26780555

    iii) Register on-site at the CLP community roadshows

    4. Can I withdraw from the Scheme at any time?

    Yes, you can. Customers can terminate their participation in the Energy-Saving Missions at any time by giving CLP verbal notice, or written notice via letter or email. They may also call our hotline on 26780555 to withdraw from the Energy-Saving Missions.

    5. When will the the Energy-Saving Missions events take place?

    Events take place within specified hours (usually around 4 hours) during summer days when there is high demand. CLP will inform customers about the exact date and time when events will occur.

    6. How and when will I be notified of the date and time of an event?

    Customers will be informed about an event via SMS, CLP app push notification or email approximately 2 hours before start of the event.

    7. How can I earn Eco Points through the Scheme?

    Customers can earn up to 4,950 Eco Points after completing all tasks. Rewards include:

    a. Sign-up Rewards

    • Customers who register for the Energy-Saving Missions, download the CLP app and complete binding with CLP Online Account for the first time can earn 1000 points.

    • If customers have already completed CLP Online Account binding earlier than scheme registration, they can still earn 500 Eco Points.

    • Eco Points will be credited to customers’ CLP Online Accounts within 4 weeks from the date of sign up.

    b. Loyalty Rewards

    • Participants sign up again this year and agree to participate in the Scheme from this year onwards and agree not to opt out from the Scheme can earn 500 Eco Points every year.

    • Eco Points will be credited to CLP Online Account of the participants by 31 Dec every year.

    c. Participation Rewards

    • Participants complete more than half of the total number of Events with energy saving will earn 500 Eco Points. Eco Points will be credited to customers’ CLP Online Accounts by 31 Dec every year.

    d. Smart Product Trial Rewards

    • Qualified participants entering smart product trial who complete more than half of the total number of Events with smart product and user feedback survey can get ownership of the given smart product (applicable to the first 250 participants only while stock lasts), or enjoy product trial offer to enjoy half price 95 (250 quota applies to the 251-500th participants while stock lasts). For eligibility, please refer to Clause 3 of the Terms & Conditions.

    e. Energy-Saving Rewards

    • 200 Eco Points will be rewarded for each unit of electricity saved within the specified hours on an event day(s). The more electricity customers save, the more Eco Points they will earn. Participants entering smart product trial can earn extra 100 Eco Points for each unit of electricity saved. To understand more about the calculation method of energy saving, please refer to Clause 5 of this Terms and Conditions.

    8. How to calculate energy saving and Energy Saving Rewards? 

    For every unit of electricity saved during the specified hours on the event day, you will earn 200 Eco Points.

    Electricity saved (kWh) = *Baseline energy usage – energy usage during specified hours on the event day

    Energy Saving Rewards# = Electricity saved (kWh) x 200 Eco Points

    Estimated energy saving results and reward will be notified in 10 working days after the event(s) through SMS, app push or email. The final result of actual energy saving and related reward of each event will be listed and finalised in the report of Energy-Saving Mission or in the related email.

    10. When will I receive my Eco Points?

    Preliminary energy saving results and reward will be uploaded to Energy-Saving Missions Dashboard after the Event(s). The final result of actual energy saving and related reward of each Event will be finalised in the next billing cycle. Participants will be notified by emails.

    CLP may terminate any participants if they move out from the registered address, suspend their account or change their tariff type to staff or non-residential tariff. All the related entitlements (include current or coming rewards) will be forfeited.
