Power Connect Programme Details

Saving energy and helping people in need is a rewarding part of your daily life. Join us and be an energy saver. Power Connect, an energy saving initiative to help people in need, encourages residential customers to reduce electricity consumption and enjoy a series of exciting rewards year-round. At the same time, it helps underprivileged people reduce their electricity bills.

How to Participate:

To encourage more electricity-saving actions, CLP POWER provides ample gifts and rewards for customers who participate in the programme. Qualified customers who successfully registered the programme during the promotional period, from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, will get a welcome gift.

Business Partner Electronic Coupon Redemption Terms and Conditions

  1. Customers who successfully activated Power Connect Programme with correct and valid CLP Electricity Account Number, your name in English and email address are eligible to choose one electronic redemption coupon out of three, which can be used to redeem a welcome gift provided by the business partners.
    • Maxims Cakes - One packet of Maxim’s Supreme Butter Loaf (Redemption of e-coupon valid from 1 May - 30 Sept 2019 only); OR
    • Maxim’s MX – One Cup of Ice Bucket Milk Tea OR Ice Bucket Earl Grey Tea with Lemon OR Ice Bucket Cream Coffee (Redemption of e-coupon valid from 1 May - 30 Sept 2019 only); OR
    • Maxim’s MX – One cup of Longan & White Gourd Tea OR Salty Lemon 7Up (Redemption of e-coupon valid from 7 May - 30 Sept 2019 only)
  2. Each CLP Activated Account can avail the offer once, valid while stocks last.
  3. The electronic redemption coupons in this round will be distributed between 1 May 2019 and 31 August 2019.
  4. Each Electronic redemption Coupon can be used to redeem a welcome gift at merchant outlet. Late redemption will not be accepted.
  5. The QR Code or barcode must be presented in electronic or print format, and each QR Code/ barcode can redeem only one welcome gift.
  6. Each QR Code / Barcode can redeem only one welcome gift.
  7. This offer cannot be used together with other discounts or promotional offers.
  8. This offer is not transferable for sales, refundable or exchangeable for cash, and/or substitution of other promotion offer/gift.
  9. CLP POWER shall not be responsible for the quality, safety and hygiene issues of the food provided by Business Partners. It is the Business Partners’ sole responsibility for all food quality, safety and hygiene issues.
  10. CLP POWER shall not have the responsibility to ensure sufficient stocks in each chain store since the stock of each welcome gift varies.
  11. If the electronic redemption coupon is lost, CLP POWER will not be responsible for any re-issuance or replacement.
  12. CLP POWER and the business partners reserve the right to modify, to suspend or to cancel any of the above offers and their terms and conditions at any time without prior notification.
  13. For any disputes, CLP POWER and the business partners reserve the right to make final decision.
  14. This offer is only applicable to the designated chain stores of the programme partners, information regarding to the location and stock of the designated chain stores, please contact the related business partners, and offers are available while stocks last.

  15. The English version of these Terms and Conditions shall prevail in case of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions.

Power Connect General Terms and Conditions

Information on how to enter and Programme details forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Programme, By entering the Programme, participants are deemed to have understood the method of participation and the details of the Programme, and accepted the following terms and conditions.participants are deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions.

  1. Participants should be: residential customers living within the supply area of CLP POWER (non-residential customers are not eligible to participate in this programme).
  2. Energy Saving Reward:
    (Only available for customers with valid Account number and with electricity usage for at least 1 year. Please refer to the table below for details.)


  • Bi-Monthly Saving reward:  Electricity-saving period is the 2 month period of each bill. Electricity consumed by each household during that 2 months in 2019 will be compared to that consumed by the same household during the same 2 months in 2018. For example, the electricity bill of March-April 2019 compares to that of March-April 2018. When participants successfully saved electricity, 200 eco-points will be awarded. The reward will start right after the activation (counting by the billing date)*
  • Summer Month Saving reward: 
    Electricity-saving period is from 1 July 2019 – 31 August 2019 and the electricity consumed by each household during this period will be accumulated and compared to that consumed by the same household during the same period in 2018 (i.e. from 1 July 2018 to 31 August 2018). Within all the participants who successfully saved electricity, the top 200 energy saving account will be awarded electricity appliance coupon. (Details will be announced in due course.)*
  • Whole Year Energy Saving reward:
    Electricity-saving period is calculated yearly (i.e. 2019) and the electricity consumed by each household during 2019 will be accumulated and compared to that consumed by the same household during 2018. Within all the participants who successfully saved electricity, the top 100 energy saving account will be awarded electricity appliance coupon (Details will be announced in due course) and the top 1000 energy saving account will be awarded 500 eco-points. *
    *(CLP POWER Staff would not be eligible to enjoy the above reward.)

  1. All prizes are not transferable for sales, refundable or exchangeable for cash, and/or substitution of other promotion offer/gift.
  2. Prizes will be determined subject to the stock availability. Awardees must not choose or object.
  3. As record, awardees must sign a confirmation letter for redemption.
  4. CLP POWER has no responsibility for the obligations and services provided by the business partners. Any dispute concerning the award quality service or value must be directly resolved between the awardees and the business partners.
  5. Any participant who intentionally conducts any unlawful or improper behaviour to harm the justice and fairness of the programme and who uses any program to defraud will be automatically disqualified. CLP POWER reserves all legal rights to claim reparation or other compensation from the participants.
  6. By participating in or applying the Programme, the participant or beneficiary understands and agrees that based on these terms, CLP POWER may use and disclose the information provided by the participant for the main purposes of conducting this Programme.   7. The participant agrees that CLP POWER can continue to contact them even after this Programme ends.
  8. To register Power Connect Programme, participants must provide (1) full Account Number, Register Name, valid email address and other related personal information for the purpose verification, or (2) CLP POWER Online Account in order to complete the whole application procedures.
  9. CLP POWER has absolute discretion to determine the eligibility of customers to participate in this Programme. CLP POWER is not obliged to enter any correspondence with any party on any issue related to this Programme.
  10. CLP Power has the absolute right to determine the final amount of money that will be donated to the beneficiaries in Power Connect Programme . 
  11. CLP POWER reserves the absolute right in the selection of beneficiary types C and to determine the eligibilities.
  12. CLP POWER accepts no responsibility to any failure to enter or complete the registration result in any during the Registration Period. Entry will be considered as accepted upon receipt by CLP POWER. CLP POWER shall not be responsible for any lost, incomplete, late or misdirected entries, and also not responsible for technical difficulties in the entry mechanism and does not warrant that the entry mechanism will be available at all time.
  13. If CLP POWER is not capable of running as planned of reasons including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any other causes beyond the control of CLP POWER, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this Programme, CLP POWER reserves the right in its sole discretion to take any action that may be available.
  14. In the event if CLP POWER, in its reasonable opinion, suspect or think that any participant tampers or interferes with the entry mechanism in any way, or who does not properly comply with the entry process, the participant will be disqualified.
  15. If any of these Terms and Conditions becomes or is declared illegal, invalid or unenforceable for any reason, such Terms and Conditions shall not affect the legality, validity and enforceability of the other Terms and Conditions.
  16. To the extent permitted by law, CLP POWER will not be liable to any person for any loss (including direct, indirect or other reasons, including but not limited to loss of income, profit or reputation) damage, liability, or personal injury arising from the plan.
  17. The English version of these Terms and Conditions shall prevail in case of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions.
  18. Regarding any dispute arising from the Programme, CLP POWER reserves the right to make final and binding decisions.
  19. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong. CLP POWER and the participants agree to irrevocably submit the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
  20. Beneficiary should be nominated by Non-Governmental Organization.
  21. CLP POWER has the right to modify the eligibility of beneficiaries without any notification.
  22. For any controversial issues, CLP POWER and Business Partners reserve the right to make final decision.

C Eligible people include:

Category 1: The single or couple elderly aged 65 or above* - One-person/two-person elderly households with age 65 or above with applied “Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme” OR “Higher/Normal Old Age Living Allowance (OALA)”.

Category 2: Low-income Household: Applicant is currently receiving receiving “Working Family Allowance (WFA) Scheme” OR “Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme” OR “Full Grant of The School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme”.

Category 3: Disabilities - Applicant is applied "Registration Card for People with Disabilities" OR “Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme with Transport Supplement" OR "Social Security Allowance (SSA) Scheme with disability allowance".

Above applicant should be:

1. Hong Kong Resident; and

2. Under CLP electricity supply area

Personal Information Collection Statement

CLP POWER is committed to protecting your privacy. Set out below is information that explains our practices about the way your personal data is collected and used.

Purpose of Collection (For applicants/ beneficiaries)

CLP Power may use the personal data you provide for assessing and processing applications of the “Power Connect” Programme (the Programme) and any purposes directly related to the Programme. CLP Power may also use such personal data:

  • Responding to and follow up on enquiries;
  • conducting research and perform statistical analysis;
  • Communicating with you;
  • notifying applicants or guardians of changes of our services that may affect the applicants; and
  • issuing subsidies.

Your supply of personal data is on a voluntary basis. However, in the absence of your Hong Kong Identity Card number, phone number, email address, address, Government documents information, CLP Power account number, we may not be able to make the assessment and may result in delay, deferment or rejection of your application.

Purpose of Collection (For participants)

CLP POWER may use the personal data you provide to communicate with you and any purposes directly related to the programme. CLP may also use such personal data:

  • Conducting research and perform statistical analysis; and
  • Conducting direct marketing activities (including making appeals for non-profit organisations that may or may not be related to CLP).

Your supply of personal data is on a voluntary basis. However, in the absence of your Hong Kong Identity Card number, phone number, email address, address and CLP Power account number, we may not be able to provide you with services. The contact number and email address will be used by CLP Power to communicate with you related to this Programme. CLP will also use email, phone calls and text messages (SMS) to disseminate information such as successful registration confirmation Email, reminder email, phone text messages (SMS), the beneficiary sharing cases, recap of activities.

Transfer of Data

CLP POWER may transfer your personal data to third parties:

  • related CLP POWER companies, including subsidiaries and affiliated companies within the CLP Group in Hong Kong;
  •  service providers such as letter-shopping service provider (including service providers outside Hong Kong) engaged by CLP POWER , if necessary for any of the purposes stated above.

CLP will disclose data when required to do so by law and may also disclose such data in response to requests from law enforcement agencies or regulatory authorities.

Access and Correction of Personal Data

You have a right to request access to, the correction and erasure of, your personal data in accordance with, where applicable, the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), and any other data protection law as applicable.
