“Through the EEUS, we received about HK$5,500 in subsidies for our new LED lights. We expect to save about 8,000 units of electricity every year.

The scheme shortened our payback period to 14 months, and helped us to meet our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.”

“We recently replaced all of the lights in our Hong Kong shops with new LED lights. The scheme’s subsidy of HK$5,000 helped us to shorten our payback period to about 3 months.

Through the new lights, we should save about 10,000 units of electricity every year. The scheme’s focus on energy-efficiency is in line with our vision of developing a Smart Aging City.”

“As a social enterprise that employs the hearing-impaired to provide hair loss treatments, we expect to save 2,800kWh every year with our new LED lights.

Through the EEUS, we upgraded our lights for HK$400 and shortened our payback period to less than 2 months.”

Eligible electrical equipment

LED light bulbs or downlight

Tap on the EEUS to install or replace non-LED lightbulbs or downlights.

LED light bulbs of all wattages are eligible, as long as they are not used for decorative purposes.

LED tubes, light strips or panel lights

LED tubes, light strips and panel lights of all wattages are eligible. These lights apply as long as they are:

  • Not used for decorative purposes; and
  • At least 60cm in length (light tube and panel light) or 1m in length (light strip).

Air-conditioners with Grade 1 energy labels

Both single package type and split type air-conditioners are eligible under the EEUS.

Your air-conditioner must be on the Record of listed models in the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme (MEELS).

Other high energy efficient air-conditioning systems

Examples include air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, variable refrigerant flow systems and unitary air-conditioners.

Your air-conditioner's performance must be better than the minimum coefficient of performance stated in the Code of Practice for Energy Efficiency of Building Services Installation.

Other equipment with energy saving feature

Equipment incorporating the energy saving installation, such as variable speed drive, inverter, heat recovery system or equivalent technologies.

Note:

The scheme only applies to eligible equipment purchased between 1 Jan 2024 and 31 Dec 2028.
