Design Concept
Shatin is one of the first new towns in Hong Kong, planned to be self-sufficient. The mural depicts public housing estates, town hall, transportation networks, and large shopping malls, illustrating how the district meets the basic needs of its residents in housing, transportation, and recreation. This reflects the success of early new town development and highlights the unique characteristics and origins of Shatin districts. The mural also includes elements of low-carbon living, such as electric vehicles and bicycles, to further promote a low-carbon lifestyle among residents.
