Sharing the Festive Joy

This programme invites the elderly and underprivileged to celebrate festivals at luncheons, share joyful moments, and reconnect with the community.

CLP Volunteer sharing energy saving tips with the elderly

Sharing joyful moments since 2014

Through this programme, we invite the elderly and underprivileged to:

  • Celebrate festivals such as the Tuen Ng Festival, Mid-Autumn festival and Senior Citizens Day with CLP volunteers;
  • Share with them about energy efficiency and safety at home; and
  • Broaden their social network and reconnect with the community.

More than 20,000 people have joined us to celebrate festivals

We partner with non-governmental organisations and local community groups to invite elderly and underprivileged individuals from Kowloon, the New Territories and outlying islands to join our activities.

As society continues to evolve, the way we celebrate has also changed. During the pandemic, we connected with elderly participants virtually to celebrate festive occasions and delivered gift bags to their homes. Following the pandemic, guided tours were organised to help seniors reconnect with their communities. Digital classes were also held to enhance the digital technology knowledge of elderly participants and encourage lifelong learning.

CLP continues to enhance the programme by introducing new elements. In celebration of the programme’s 10th anniversary in 2024, a series of talks and workshops were held under the theme of “upcycling.” Through these activities, elderly participants were empowered to creatively transform used clothing—collected by CLP volunteers—into practical everyday items. Collaborations with students also brought nostalgic fashion pieces to life, showcased in a fashion show that celebrated intergenerational harmony, waste reduction at source, and sustainable development.

“At first, I was worried that my sewing skills had become rusty, but I quickly regained my confidence. What made me happiest was that the students valued our experiences and suggestions, it’s truly empowered us to co-create stylish fashion outfits.”
