CLP Smart Energy Award 2023

#PowerUp - Mobilising All Sectors Towards Carbon Reduction

The sixth CLP Smart Energy Award ceremony was successfully held on 17 October 2023. Under the theme ‘#PowerUp’, the award aimed to encourage our business customers to move towards low-carbon transformation by leveraging innovative technologies and creative carbon reduction strategies for improved competitiveness, operational efficiency and business opportunities.

Over 700 corporates and Government bodies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and educational institutes showed their support for energy conservation and carbon reduction by entering the awards. The judging panel selected a total of 66 winners based on their outstanding performance in energy conservation.

The Baptist (Sha Tin Wai) Lui Ming Choi Primary School is one of the Carbon Management Grand Award winners in the ‘Catering and SMEs, NGOs, and Educational Institutions’ category. The school has installed solar power systems and real-time energy monitoring devices on campus to minimise non-renewable energy consumption and educate students on the importance of energy conservation through hands-on activities. IZone, equipped with an energy-saving monitoring system and devices, will be set up and subsidised by the CLP Education Fund

In the ‘Corporate and Government Bodies’ category, the Civil Aviation Department won the Innovation Excellence Award. The department has incorporated an artificial intelligence energy optimisation system in the central air-conditioning system at their headquarters. The system analyses the performance data of chillers and cooling towers, and utilises it to calculate the most energy-efficient operating mode. The department has also used CLP Smart Energy Online to identify energy-saving opportunities in its buildings.

CLP will continue to promote the adoption of innovative technologies and energy-saving measures to support our business customers moving towards a low-carbon future!
