CLP Subsidy Schemes Support Low-Carbon Business Transformation

Buildings consume around 90% of Hong Kong’s electricity. Improving the energy efficiency of buildings not only reduces consumption and costs but also supports Hong Kong’s transition into a low-carbon city. CLP has launched a wide range of programmes and subsidy schemes to help our business customers boost energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, including our Energy Audit Service, Eco Building Fund, Electrical Equipment Upgrade Scheme, and Retro-Commissioning (RCx) Charter Programme. In particular, the subsidy schemes enable our customers to achieve low-carbon transformation by shortening the investment payback period for energy-saving works and equipment, enhancing energy efficiency, and decreasing operating expenses in the long run.

Since their launch, CLP’s energy-saving services and subsidies have led to many successes for customers, one of which is Citi. In 2019, Citi conducted an energy audit with CLP. Two years later, subsidised by the Eco Building Fund, the bank carried out RCx works in 2021 to allow real-time analyses of chiller performance and automatically optimised settings, helping the building management team to streamline operations and lower energy consumption. The works have resulted in significant energy savings of 400,000 kWh per year. Recently, Citi participated in CLP’s RCx Charter Programme, where its energy management team upgraded their RCx skills and learnt how to achieve low-carbon transformation in a cost-effective way.

To support the Government’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality in Hong Kong by 2050, CLP will continue to empower our corporate customers to adopt energy-saving solutions as well as sustainable business practices. We hope to help more customers to decarbonise and improve energy efficiency in their facilities through our subsidy schemes.
