About the Programme

CLP Power is organising an Energy-Saving and Low-Carbon Innovation for Tomorrows Competition in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology Hong Kong (IET Hong Kong). The competition challenges tertiary students to submit proposals using innovative and smart technology that facilitate energy efficiency and conservation and encourage behavioural changes in electricity consumption.

Participants are expected to work in teams to conduct research on the energy needs, behaviour, and socio-economic conditions of underprivileged people, including elderly, underprivileged families and disabled people, as well as the community at large. They will then develop sustainable energy solutions that have a direct and positive impact on the livelihoods of people in need.

Shortlisted teams will receive funding from CLP Power to develop prototypes based on their proposals. These teams can test their prototypes and receive feedback from professional advisers, with the opportunity to adjust the prototypes according to the feedback. Teams will then present the outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned from their projects on the final contest day.
